Worried about how to collect signatures AND handle exam stress?
|
No need to worry, it's easier than you think to do both at the same time! We asked current Board Members for their advice on how to successfully manage exams and nominations.

Tips & tricks for collecting signatures during exams
|
- Take advantage of the busy exam period and check out study spots and cafeterias!
- Reach out to your classmates while their memory of you in their class is still fresh! Your peers are more likely to nominate you if they know you.
- Think of your "why" - what experience or insight do you have that makes you an ideal candidate? What makes you want to be a Board Member? Don't be afraid to share this with people when asking for their support.
- Remember to thank students for their time and support! A positive attitude goes a long way and you'll eventually need to ask them to vote for you too!

On a co-op term outside Waterloo?
|
You can still get those signatures!
|
- Ask your friends, former roommates, or classmates to sign for you!
- Use social media! Reddit, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, or good old-fashioned e-mail are all great ways to reach your fellow undergrads when you can't physically be on campus.
- Leverage your networks! Your friends or classmates who are on campus may be able to hit up those busy spots and canvass signatures on your behalf.
- Lean into the WUSA clubs, student societies, intramural teams, or any other groups you're part of!

Still not sure why you should run?
|
- You're clearly passionate about making your school a better place otherwise you wouldn't be receiving this e-mail. Your voice matters.
- This is your opportunity to network with administrators, different levels of government, other student governments, and your fellow undergrads!
- Enhance your resume - future employers look for people who actively contribute to their community. Having student government on your resume is a great way to stand out and highlight your leadership capabilities (not to mention the President and VP positions count as 2 co-op terms).
